Cllr Oliver Johnstone, Lisa Walker, John Wright and your local Conservatives are campaigning for a new filter at the Fiveways junction to tackle the congestion and gridlock caused by the new junction design. Local residents have told us that they are sick to death of sitting in queues along Dean Lane, as well as the rat-running via Haddon Road and Cavendish Road amongst others.
Oliver said, "This junction was imposed on local residents when the area was already struggling with the impact of the A555 junction. The decision to remove the left filter lane was short-sighted and against the wishes of local people. We are fighting to fix the Fiveways junction by putting a new filter in place to allow traffic to turn off Dean Lane quicker and easier."
Local campaigner, Lisa Walker, said, "Traffic frequently backs up all the way to Arundel Avenue - it is completely unacceptable that commuters, families and residents looking to get to Stepping Hill Hospital or Hazel Grove district centre are having to sit in gridlock on a daily basis."
