·         Installation of decorative railings following completion of design

Travis Brow Link Road

Progress made during w/c 10.12.2018


·         Travis Brow embankment reduced dig and disposal of earth is complete.

·         Viaduct stabilization works to arch 23 (rock anchors)

·         New Travis Brow link road carriageway, islands and definition

·         Embankment stabilisation works to the west embankments above the new cycleway. All soil nails have been installed and mesh overlay/Geocell layer is ongoing.  

·         Filter drains installation at the base of embankments

·         Shotcrete covering to the vertical drainage

·         New drainage installations crossing Travis Brow. Drainage works on the inbound carriageway lane are complete.     

·         Highway works to Wellington Road North


Look ahead for w/c 17.12.2018

·         Reduced level dig to the new link road under Arch 23.

·         Filling in the redundant tunnel under the A6

·         Continuation of the embankment stabilisation works high level north west.

·         Excavation and insertion of rock anchors/ sprayed concrete to arch 23 abutments north and south.  

·         Remedial treatment to affected contiguous wall piles involving surface preparation and high build coatings

·         New carriageway/traffic islands/drainage/street lighting construction to divert inbound traffic around congested works areas continues this week. (week end working is envisaged to maximise productivity off line, the key date being diversionary route open to traffic by 03/01/19)

·         Base and binder only tarmacadam to key sections of the  new link road relative to the aforementioned. Now programmed to commence Monday 17th December 2018 at 7.30pm for three consecutive nights.         

·         Travis Brow, two lane traffic flows will be maintained running through to the Christmas close down of works with the exception of three night shifts planned in to facilitate new surfacing and tie ins. The inbound lane 1 will be closed off at the bus stop from 7.30pm and the lane re–opened at 6am each day.

·         George’s Road, one way traffic westbound from the A6 junction to the B&Q entrance roundabout continues and is expected to remain until the Christmas close down when it will revert to two way traffic.

·         TM and enabling works to George’s Road  north side, Andrew Street and Wycliffe Street are continue this week, street lighting/ UTC ducts/ chambers, kerbing installation. Minor incursions on highway expected.   

·         Wellington Road North. Traffic management restricting traffic flows outbound (lane one bus lane closure) continues.    

·         Continuation of excavation and preparation to facilitate footway remodelling working northwards. Preparation and concreting of narrow widening concrete slab, new drainage runs, new conservation kerbing, UTC ducts and chamber installations continues
