We appreciate that there are a number of TCAP projects now on site in locations across Stockport town centre but whilst cones and barriers are in place, restrictions to traffic flows as a result of the works are minimal. Where possible, we create working space through the use of footway closures (with signed pedestrian diversions in place) and the installation of narrow lanes, as, for example, is the case on Knightsbridge. We have also sought to implement innovative traffic management solutions to mitigate delays when lane closures are necessary, as we have done at the Chestergate/ King Street West junction with the temporary removal of the traffic signals and banning of movements at the junction. The feedback we have received is that this traffic management is working well.
The works across the town centre will continue to be carefully programmed to manage the impact of the works on the users of the town centre.
Further information about traffic management in place across the TCAP projects, can be found online at www.stockport.gov.uk/town-centre-access-plan/traffic-management-tcap
