Hazel Grove local councillor, Oliver Johnstone is warning residents of some significant road closures coming over the summer.
Roads in Stockport will likely see a significant increase in congestion this summer due to two major road closures instigated by Stockport Council.
From Monday 24th July, the A6 between the Garrick Theatre and Heaton Lane will be closed for 12 weeks whilst the Council performs essential maintenance to the bridge. Pedestrians and cyclists will still be granted access. Access to businesses will also be maintained.
From 19th July until 5th September, Woodford Road will be closed 24 hours per day. This is to allow A6MARR works to progress Poynton Bridge. Access to properties will remain throughout.
In light of the closures, Cllr Oliver Johnstone commented, "Yet again we seem to find ourselves facing a number of prolonged, mayor roadworks coinciding with one another. I have sought assurances from Stockport Council that the ongoing works at St Mary's Way will be suspended throughout the summer, which the Council have confirmed. I encourage all Hazel Grove residents to get in touch if they have any further issues or concerns with these closures."
