Hazel Grove Conservatives are delighted that the Clean Air Zone has been delayed.
The original proposals which were due to come in in May were going to be deeply damaging to local businesses and families. It was an entirely unacceptable proposal, and we are delighted that the GMCA has had to rethink the CAZ.
However, any new zone must not penalise local businesses or residents in the same way as before, this has clearly been rejected by the people of Greater Manchester.
We await the new proposals from the Greater Manchester Authority in July and will represent local people when the details are published. We continue to monitor the GMCA's work in this area, and we will ensure that any new proposals are properly scrutinised.
